Handles individual clients, groups and businesses alike. Deposits and loans can be tracked at group level or at group-member level, making Loan Performer well suited to Solidarity lending, Village-Banking and Grameen-type lending.

Shares Savings & Deposits Loans Accounting

Shares

Members can buy, sell and transfer shares from one member to another, in cash, by cheque or via the member's savings account.

Shares have a nominal value and a current value. The nominal value stays fixed, while the current value can appreciate or depreciate over time.
Dividends can be calculated according to the number of months a shareholder has held the share, or independently of it — the period is configurable from a minimum of one to a maximum of 12 months.
Share transactions automatically update the General Ledger.

Savings & Deposits

The Savings module works perfectly in a banking hall environment: the teller verifies the client's balance, enters a transaction and prints a receipt, making end-of-day cash reconciliation easy.

Supports up to 1,000,000 accounts for each account type (individual, group or business) per branch, and up to 1,000 user-definable savings products, each with its own interest, minimum balances and rules.
Maximum deposit amount of 999,999,999,999.99, with transactions booked automatically into the General Ledger — each product can be linked to its own set of GL accounts, or this can be disabled where deposits are held at an external bank.
Interest can be calculated on Running Balances, Monthly Minimum Balances, Average Period Balances, End-of-Period Balances or Running Balances Compounded, for up to 12 months, and added automatically to accounts. Dormant or below-minimum accounts can be excluded.
Savings accounts can be opened for a single person (with or without a co-account holder), a group, or a business, and can be linked to loans as a guarantee — requiring a set percentage of the loan amount to be held before an application or disbursement is allowed.
Accounts can be flagged dormant after a configurable period of inactivity, and overdrafts and negative-balance interest are supported.
Rewards and charges (such as ledger fees or excellent-repayment bonuses) can be added to or deducted from accounts, for a defined range of accounts at a time.
Cheque deposits are supported, including clearing and bouncing, and a single cheque can update several savings accounts at once. Deposits to multiple accounts (e.g. salary payments) are also supported.
Transfers can be made between any accounts — even between an individual client and a group member, or from one savings product to another — and transactions can be imported from DBF, XLS or TXT files.
Branch managers can set a maximum withdrawal amount for cashiers, requiring a manager's password to authorize anything above it.
Reports include Savings Till-Sheets, Saver's Statements, Batch Balances, Savings Balances, Flux of Savings Transactions, Compulsory Savings, Modified/Closed Savings Accounts, and combined Personal Ledger balances across Shares, Savings and Loans.

Loans

A full loan life-cycle engine — from application through disbursement, repayment, rescheduling and write-off — built to handle almost any repayment schedule a microfinance institution needs.

Handles up to 1,000,000 loans per branch, a maximum loan amount of 999,999,999,999.99, and up to 99 loan products with their own parameters, including several loan funds that can be prevented from over-disbursement.
Supports loans to individuals, Village-Banking loans to groups (with a breakdown per member), and Grameen-style direct lending to members within a group — each product posts automatically to its own General Ledger accounts.
Manages the full cycle: application, commission payment, approval, disbursement, repayment, rescheduling and write-off. Commissions can be a flat amount or percentage, charged before or after application, at disbursement, or with every installment.
Grace periods are supported, with a choice of whether interest accrues during the grace period, and repayment schedules can show interest-only payments or a balloon payment at the end.
Installment periods include daily, weekly, bi-weekly, half-monthly, monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, four-monthly, semi-annual and annual, with non-working-day rules to shift due dates automatically.
Interest can be calculated as flat rate, declining balance, or discounted, by calendar days or by installment periods, and deducted at disbursement or paid with the first installment.
Individual loans can require guarantors or collateral, and a set percentage of the loan can be required to sit in savings or shares as security — with different rules for individual and group loans.
The computer-generated repayment schedule can be edited installment by installment (date, principal, interest), even down to individual group members.
Disbursements can be made in cash, by cheque, as a deposit to a savings account, or as a transfer to an external bank account, and can be paid out in installments; loan and contract data can be exported to Word.
Repayments can be made in cash, by cheque, from a savings account or by bank transfer, with automatic transfers to cover arrears from a guarantee account.
Penalties on arrears can be entered manually or calculated automatically across all loans, using several configurable calculation methods.
Loans can be rescheduled with extra installments or modified future dues, and applications, approvals, disbursements and repayments can all be imported from external files.
Generates user-definable warning letters for arrears, supports client black-listing, and calculates Loan Provisioning across five user-defined risk classes with automatic GL updates.
Reports include Aged Arrears, Portfolio at Risk, Performance Monitoring, Indicators and Collection Sheets — filterable by period, branch, credit officer, loan product, fund, geography, sector and client category — plus a planning-vs-achievement comparison and loan archiving.

Accounting

A full General Ledger with Assets, Debtors and Creditors modules, so every Shares, Savings and Loan transaction flows straight through to your books.

Supports up to 1,000,000 accounts and a maximum booking amount of 999,999,999,999.99, with a chart of accounts you can modify, add to or delete — down to five sub-levels, with analysis codes for products, funding agencies and branches.
General Ledger transactions can be imported from external files, and data can be exported to third-party accounting packages such as QuickBooks, Sun Systems or Navision.
You decide which accounts receive automatic bookings from Shares, Savings and Loans, per product, and can still enter manual journal entries for items like rent.
Supports voucher number templates, cost centres linked to clients, and budgets — including multi-donor budgets.
All automatic postings are on a cash basis, but accrued interest can be calculated and posted to the GL periodically.
Produces budget tracking, profit-per-period, account breakdowns, trial balance, income and expense, cash-flow and balance sheet reports.
