Please note: that there are two types of installations for version 7.10.01, these are: New installation and  Upgrading from an existing database.

New Installation

  1. Download all installation files (setup, disk1, disk2, .....)  to a folder on your hard disk e.g. "C:\LPF Install"

  2. Create a temporary directory e.g. "C:\temp". Copy the setup.exe from the folder "C:\LPF Install" into this directory. Then double-click on this file to start the LOAN PERFORMER installation procedure and follow the instructions displayed on screen. By default the software is installed on your hard disk in the folder "C:\LPF710".

  3. Once your computer has finished with the first file (setup.exe), the installation process will ask you to insert the next disk (Disk1.bnd). If this does not happen, then you know that there was a problem with the last file (setup.exe) and maybe this file was not correctly downloaded and you have to download it again and repeat the installation.

  4. If all goes well, you can copy Disk1.bnd from the "C:\LPF Install" directory into "C:\temp" and click on the OK button to continue the installation with the next disk.

  5. Now the process repeats itself. If all goes well, you will be asked to insert the next disk. If not you know that there is a problem with this file/disk and you need to download this again. You can continue in this way until all files are done and you get a message that the software has been successfully installed on your computer.

Upgrade from an existing database

In a situation where you want to upgrade, please use the following procedure:

  1. BACK UP your current database!

  2. Follow steps 1 to 5 of the "New Installation" section above to ensure that there are no corrupt files and that a new installation of LOAN PERFORMER is properly done.

  3. Delete the files in the folder  "C:\LPF710\Data", they are just empty.

  4. Copy all the files from your old version's data folder. Assuming that your old version is 6.17 and your database folder was "C:\LPF617\Data", then copy the contents of "C:\LPF617\Data" and paste this into "C:\LPF710\Data"

  5. Search for a file called LPF.INI in the folder "C:\LPF710", if this file exists, open it with Notepad and check whether the variable 'Database' is showing the correct database folder. If not change this.

  6. If you are upgrading from a version 6 database, you should also copy the file "Path.lpf" from the former LOAN PERFORMER folder into the folder C:\LPF710.  Open this file with Notepad and change  the contents to "C:\LPF710\Data". This should refer to the data directory where your new data files are stored.

  7. At this point things may be different depending on whether your former version was lower than or equal/higher than 6.17. If it is 6.17 or higher, you have to download a file called "Patch710.exe" (1805 KB) into the program folder (normally C:\LPF710). You then have to run this patch (double click on the file name in Explorer). This will upgrade your database to version 7.10.

BUT you can only use Patch710.exe for databases from version 6.17 onwards. So if your database was of a lower version than 6.17, you first need to upgrade it to version 6.17 with the file patch617.exe (3,427 KB). After this is done successfully, you need to download to the 7.10 program folder and execute Patch710.exe.

  8. The patch file will read the path to the data from the file LPF.INI and update the database that is indicated in this directory to the desired version. If you have to upgrade several databases, you will have to change the contents of the file LPF.INI with Notepad, make it point to the next database and run the Patch file again.

  9. After running the patch, you can run the new version of LOAN PERFORMER

  10. Now you don't need the old LOAN PERFORMER directory anymore (where you had the old version/database), but wait with deleting it until you are sure the new version runs correctly.

Points to Note:
  • If you have downloaded and saved all the above files (setup, disk1, disk2, .....) and you find that they are saved as "disk?.bnd.bnd", just rename them as "disk?.bnd". It sometimes happens that MS Internet Explorer adds erroneously an extension ".bnd".
  • Also note that transfers from the internet can sometimes cause corrupted files. You may see this when the installation is suddenly cancelled or gives you an error message that it cannot read a file. It is not necessary to download all files again. You need to find the file that is corrupted and download this one again. If you follow the above procedure, you will easily detect which of the 25 files is the one that is corrupt.
  • After upgrading, remember to modify any references/shortcuts on your desktop and program references to point to the new directory. If you don't know how to do this, delete the references and re-create them. If you forget to do this, some staff members may update the wrong database!
  • You should never install an upgrade over an older database. LOAN PERFORMER won't overwrite your old database, that is not the problem. But sometimes new tables are added for a new version. If you copy them into the old data-directory, the database container is not updated and the new files are not listed as belonging to the LOAN PERFORMER database. This will generate errors.
  • You should never install LOAN PERFORMER in an existing LPF directory unless you are sure that the directory is completely empty.

  • Login into LOAN PERFORMER with "Performer" as user and "LPF" as password. Press F1 for additional Help. The Help file has a "Quick Start" page with the minimum system configuration that you have to do in order to get started.

For modifications made in this version, see our Updates page.

For any bug fixes made in this version, see the Bugs page and the Download page for recent LPF executables.
